Sweeney Todd is about a man who wanted to get revenge toward the people who had ruined his life. His way of revenge was by opening a barbershop and hoping that his target will come someday so he can kill him by cutting his target’s throat with a shaving knife.

Yes, I think Sweeney Todd was based on a true story. I come to this conclusion because somehow this movie is so human... i mean, this movie is making sense because it's a story someone who was blinded with anger and hatred because of the injustice in his life so he wanted to get some revenge to people who did bad things to him. Sadly, this revenge did not do any change to his life; he still lost everything, even sometimes the pain is worse than it was before. I find this kind of experience a lot in real life, so i suppose that there is a high probability that this movie was based on true story.

Music plays a very important role in this movie because the music part took like half duration of the movie. And I think the music is brilliant, it can create the atmosphere of the underlying story without having to have a boring dialogue between two people. The music can also create my mood like the pity I felt when the music is rumbling like a distant thunder (it can be seen when Mrs. Lovett told Sweeney Todd what had happened to Lucy, his wife, after he left) or when the music (Gosh, I don’t know how to say it, you know, it’s the music that usually played to make the viewer feel tense) stimulates the anxiety in me (it can be seen when Mr. Todd knew that Mrs. Lovett misled him about the existence of his wife and then angrily Mr. Todd took Mrs. Lovett to dance and ended the dance by killing her)

My favorite is when Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lovett tried to hide the dead body of the Italian barber that was killed by Mr. Todd and they also agreed to kill more people and make the flesh of the victim as the ingredients of the pie. All of this happened because Mrs. Lovett was blinded by love; therefore she tried to hide Mr. Todd’s crime while on the other hand Mr. Todd was blinded with anger and hatred toward Judge Turpin; therefore he tried to be with Mrs. Lovett, the only one who can help her to fulfill his revenge. I think this part is the bridge that leads the story to be more interesting.
